BOARD OF' CDMMISSIDNER3 `
April 26, 1971
The Orange County Board of Commtsaionera met in adjourned joint session
with the Orange County Board of Education at 8 o~clock P,M, on Monday, April
26, 1971, in the Commissioners Room of the Courthouse in Hillsborough, North
Carolina.
Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners William C,
Ray, Henry S. Walker, Ira A. Ward and Norman Walker. _- -
Members Absent: None
George Williams, Scheel Superintendent, Roy Deal, Assistant Superintendent,
and Board members Oscar Compton, Belton Edwards and Roger Marshall were also
present.
It ,was brought to the attention cf the group that the term oP T. T. Gobbel
on the ABC Board would soon expire.
IIpon motion of Commissioner Henry Walker, seconded bq Sahodl..Board member
Roger Marshall, it wsa mayed and adopted, that S, T. Gobbel be re-appointed as
a member of the Orange County Alcoholic Beverage Control Board for a term of
three yerars and that the new term is to commence at the expiration of his
current term.
Roger Marshall stated that the County Board oP Education had recently
received bide on the following projects:

Mr. Marshall inquired as to the possibilitq oP an estimated budget total
for the forthcoming calendar gear. Chairman Bennett advised the group that at ~,
present it would be impossible to determine anq forthcoming budget allocations '
as the General Assembly must decide on various aspects of School and Social ~
3ervic® items. Further disouasion ensued. '

The County Administrator requested the Hoard tc exempt Orange County from
the provisions of House Bill 81 as this bill requires the issuance oP a
CkiiTIFICATE OF EKISTSNC$ OF ALL LIENS HELD BY EITHER COUNTX OR MUNICIPALITY
and that the issuance of this certificate bars colleotion in the event that an
error is made by the issuing officer, ii

Upon motion oP Commissioner Ira A. Ward, seconded by Commissioner William, i
C. Rap, it wsa moved and adopted that the Board reoueat Representative Carl I
M. Smith to exempt Orange County Prom the provisions of House Bill 81.
There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting was
adjourned. j
