SUBJECT: 2009-2019 Capital Investment Plan (CIP) Public Hearing

PURPOSE: To receive public comments regarding the County Manager's Recommended
2009-2019 County CIP and the Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools and Orange County Schools
Board of Education approved 2009-19 CIP.
BACKGROUND: On October 21, 2008, the County Manager presented a proposed long-range
capital plan for County projects to Commissioners. Both School Boards presented their
approved CIP to Commissioners during the November 13, 2008 work session.
Copies of the County's capital plan and Schools' identified needs are available in the following
locations:

During tonight's .public hearing, community members will have an opportunity to comment on
County and schools' long range capital plans. In addition, written comments and questions
regarding the County's long-range capital plan can be submitted in the following manners:

All written comments will be shared with the Board of County Commissioners.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There are no financial impacts associated with the public hearing.
RECOMMENDATION (S): The Manager recommends that the Board of County Commissioners
conduct the public hearing and invite public comment regarding the County and Schools' 2009-
2019Capital Investment Plans.
