December 1, 19'70
The Board of County Commissioners of Orange County met in special session
at 1x00 o~clock P.M, on Tuesday, December 1, 1970, in the office of Chairman
Carl Smith in Chapsl Hill, North Carolina.
Members Present: Commissioners Henry S. Walker, William C. Ray and Ira
A, Ward.
Members Absent: Chairman Carl M. Smith.
The Following persona were present: Quentin Patterson, Fslmer Graham and
Woodrow Hoskins, representatives oP the Soil Conservation Service, Mark Burnham
Prom the Research Triangle Regional Planning Commission, and John Pridgen from
the firm of Pridgen and Freeman.
-_--`~ Commissioner Henry Walker assumed the Chairmanship of the meeting as Vice
Chairman of the Board.
This meeting eras held for the purpose of receiving a report Prom the representatives
of the Soil Conaervation.Service relative to the proposed Seven Mile Creek
reservoir.
Mr. Hoskins, Soil Conservation Geologist, stated that funds were not available
for the Soil Conservation Service to explore alternate s?etea for the location oP
a dam on the Seven Mile Creek project, however the original aite,which had been
selected as the location for the dam, was sat~,afactorp, It was suggested that the
County and the Soil Conservation Department proceed to develop s project measures
work plan and that from this plan an Architectural and Engineering contreat could
then be drawn. Discussion ensued. The Board decided they would visit the site
of the proposed dam. It was agreed that any cation on the proposed reservoir
would be deferred until a later date. -
There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting was
adjourned.
