PURPOSE: To consider awarding a contract for plumbing repairs to the men's and women's restrooms
at the Northside Facility in Chapel Hill.
BACKGROUND: Funds have been allocated in the 1999-2000 operating budget to renovate the men's
and women's restrooms at the Northside Center in Chapel Hill. The scope of work involves removing all
toilets, urinals, sinks and piping and replacing it with new. Orange County's needs were identified and
bids were solicited from seven (7) plumbers. A pre-bid conference was held on September 8, 1999.
Three vendors responded to Orange County's bid. Attached is a tabulation. Brown Brothers Plumbing of
Durham North Carolina submitted the lowest responsible bid at a cost of $21,336.00.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funds for the purchase of this unit have been allocated in the 1999-2000
Budget.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The manager recommends that the Board award the contract to Brown
Brothers Plumbing of Durham North Carolina in the amount of $21,336.00.
