PURPOSE:
To consider the renewal of the lease for the Solid Waste Convenience Center located on Bradshaw
Quarry Road
BACKGROUND:
The Bradshaw Quarry Solid Waste Convenience Center site is located on property owned by Dr,
James Thompson and Betty A. Thompson. The size of the site is one acre. Since 1989, the County
has leased this property for $1,200 a year:
It appears that this staffed site will continue to be necessary in the foreseeable future. Therefore a
five-year lease renewal period is recommended for the period July 1, 1999 through June 30, 2004.
In the event that an alternative, manner of solid waste collection is identified prior to the end of the
lease period, the renewal will continue to include a 90-day termination clause. The property owners
have agreed upon a lease renewal cost of $ 2,400 per year ($200 per month).
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
It is recommended that the monthly rent be increased to $200 for the five-year renewal term. Funds
are currently allocated in the operating budget to accommodate the increased rent amount.

RECOMMENDATON(S):
The Manager'recommends that the Board approve the lease renewal for the period of July 1, 1999
through June 30, 2004 at a cost of $ 200 per month and authorize the Chair to sign on behalf of the
Board.

LEASE AGREEMENT RENEWAL
WHEREAS, a lease agreement was made and entered into as of the 5`~' day of June, 1989 by and between Orange County,
hereinafter ~`eferred to as the County, and Dr. James C. Thompson and wife, Betty A. Thompson, hereinafter referred to as
the Owner, for property on Bradshaw Quarry Road to be used as a solid waste collection site.
WHEREAS, the County and the Owner wish to renew the lease agreement as amended;
NOW THEREFORE, the County and the Owner mutually agree to the following:
1. Section 2 "The Lease", shall be modified to read as follows:
"The lease renewal will commence on July 1, 1999 and will continue through June 30, 2004, excepting
either the Owner or County may terminate the lease upon giving ninety days (90) written notice to the
other. County shall pay to Owner rent in the amount of $200 per month, for each and every month of the
term of this lease, payable on or before the first day of each month of the lease term."
2. All other terms and conditions shall remain the same.
This agreed to the eighteenth day of October, 1999.
