HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 19700223 MI:TTJTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS February 23, 1970 BOOK ~ "r,GE 2~e9 The Board of Commissioners of Orange County met in special session at 3 o~olock P.M, on Monday, February 23, 1970, in the District Courtroom at the Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina. Members Present: Chairman Carl M. Smith and Commissioners Harvey D. Bennett, William C. Ray, Henry S. Walker and Ira A, Ward. Members Absent: None The following representatives of the State Highway Commission were present: Clifton Benson, Division Highway Commissioner, P. L. Welch, Division Engineer, Earl Hoover, District Engineer, and Bryant Brewer, County Maintenance Supervisor. The meeting was held for the purpose of discussing with the representatives o£ the State Highway Commission the secondary road plan, which would be instituted in 1970, for Crange County. Discussion ensued relative to the following roads: Aacesa road to Orange High School from N. C. Highway 86, access road to Chapel Hill High School from Estes ]}rive Extension, Secondary road 1333, which leads into Lake Orange, Secondary road 1179, which is an extensicn of the Union Grove Church road, the Jack Walker road, the Marvin Ebans road and Highway ~ eastward from Chapel Hill to Raleigh. The Board of Commissioners stated that in their opinion the above referred roads were of vital importance to Orange County, Mr. Benson advised the Board that the improvements to Highway 5L}, eastward fron Chapel Hill to Raleigh, held the highest priority rating, as fax as he was personally concerned, however, until the designated route for Interstate L}0 in the Durham area was determined any plans for improving highway sly must be deferred as there is a probability that Highway 51~ would'be routed into Interstate 40. There being no further business to come before the Board said meeting was adjourned. Carl M. Smith, Chairman S. M. Gatti s, Acting Clerk MINIITES-OF THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS February 26, 1970 The Board of Commissioners of Orange County met in adjourned session at 8 o~elock P.M, on Thursday, February 25, 1970, in the Courtroom at the Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina. Members Present: Chairman Carl M. Smith and Commissioners William C. Ray, Harvey' D. Bennett, Henry S. Walker and Ira A. Ward. Members Absent: None This meeting was held for the purpose oP conducting a public hearing in conjunction with the County Planning Board relative to an amendment to the Chapel Hill Township Zoning Ordinance. Chairman Carl Smith called the meeting to order and than turned the chair over tc Charlie Johnston, Chairman of the County Planning Board. Mr. Johnston proceeded to conduct the public hearing. The minutes of this public hearing will be duly recorded in the Minute Ibeket Book of the County Planning Board. At the conclusion of the public hearing Chairman Johnston turned the chair back to Chairman Carl Smith. There being no further business to come before the public hearing said meeting was adjourned.
