PURPOSE:
To present award checks to Orange County arts organizations receiving 1999 -2000 North
Carolina Arts Council Grassroots Grants.
BACKGROUND:
The Orange County Arts Commission, as an approved Designated County Partner (DCP),
subgrants Grassroots Grants to local arts organizations, with funding provided by the North
Carolina Arts Council Grassroots Arts Program. Funds for arts programming reflect the racial
and cultural diversity of Orange County. Each organization receiving a Grassroots Grant
matches the grant amount with local dollars in order to receive an award.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Funds ($25,387) are provided by the North Carolina Arts Council for distribution by the Arts
Commission. No Orange County funds are used for Grassroots Grants.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board acknowledge the local
recipients of the awards during the November 3, 1999 meeting with the presentation of checks
by the Board Chair, Alice Gordon.
