BACKGROUND: The Orange County Arts Commission, as an approved Designated County Partner (DCP), subgrants Grassroots Grants to local arts organizations, with funding provided by the North Carolina Arts Council Grassroots Arts Program. Funds for arts programming reflect the racial and cultural diversity of Orange County. Each organization receiving a Grassroots Grant matches the grant amount with local dollars in order to receive an award. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funds ($25,387) are provided by the North Carolina Arts Council for distribution by the Arts Commission. No Orange County funds are used for Grassroots Grants. The Arts Center: ACT for the production of three plays in the amount of $1500.00 and The Arts Center: Family Programs for KidsCaberet in the amount of $3500.00. Ken Moore is accepting the award for The Botanical Garden Foundation, Inc. for the Sculpture in the Garden Exhibition in the amount of $1000.00. Jim Kirkpatrick is accepting the award for The Cane Creek Cloggers for Season Performances in the amount of $412.00.
