I have been fortunate enough to be fairly successful in my education and professional
life. Furthermore, I have been lucky enough to move my family to Orange County, a
place that feels like home and will be our home for a long time to come.
With that said, I'd like to give. back to my community and to development a network within
our county. Serving on a board seems like the best way to accomplish my goals and to

Animal Services Advisory Board
Work Experience:
I have been the Executive Director of CLAWS, Inc for 2 years. As such, my
responsibilities include all aspects of animal care, rehabilitation of animals, animal intake,
animal adoptions, and outreach programs to teach people about the animals with which
we share our world, as well as responsible pet ownership.
CLAWS, Inc. is a state and federally licensed exotic animal rescue, wildlife rehabilitation
and educational facility.
Volunteer Experience:
I have been a wildlife rehabilitator for over 20 years. I've also been one of the few fawn
rehabilitators here in North Carolina for 3 years.
I was a volunteer for The Garnivore Preservation Trust for 7 years and served on the
board of Triad Exotic Animal Rescue for 2 years.
Education:
My actual degree is in Computer Information Systems and I have worked, and continue
to work (from home) in this field for 22 years.
However, I have lived with and rehabilitated exotic and native species for my entire life.
Other Comments:
As somebody who deals daily with the public both about wildlife and about animals they
have taken in as pets without doing proper research, I think I have a lot to offer this
board. I understand the dangers as well as the importance of many species that are
either unheard of by most people or misunderstood by the general public.

Part of what I do on a daily basis is educate people who call with questions about wildlife
that really needs to be-left alone.

I love animals and would like to help put them in good homes. Also, I am very concerned
with the socio-economic status of several people working in Chapel Hill. I would like to
influence factors that are keeping these people barely a step above poverty. Hopefully be
able to get into some high schools and talk to the sudents. STAFF COMMENTS:
