BACKGROUND: The Mercer Group, Inc. was selected to conduct the Executive Search for a County Attorney and also to develop a position profile. The BOCC was asked to review and make comments/edits on the proposed profile-these proposed changes are shown on the attached copy. Orange County is home to the flagship campus of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, to the towns of Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Mebane (move), and Hillsborough, the County Seat, as well as a portion of Mebane. The annual County budget is over $165 million, and there are in excess of 770 full-time County employees. Land Conservation To protect and conserve the County's important natural and cultural land resources. There are three primary categories within which land conservation efforts occur in Orange County government: 1. Lands Legacy Program 2. Land Development Approval Processes 3. Locally-Administered Federal and State Conservation Programs 6. Space To provide adequate operational space of acceptable quality for all County operations. 7.
