PURPOSE: To consider for approval the regular meeting schedule for the Board of County
Commissioners for calendar year 2000.
BACKGROUND: In accordance with 143.318.12 of the General Statutes, a schedule of regular
meetings shall be filed with the Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners. The schedule
must show the date, time and place of each meeting. The calendar reflects meetings
scheduled tentatively with the Town of Hillsborough on January 31, two Assembly of
Governments meetings for March 30 and October 30 and two meetings with the two school
boards for March 27 and September 21. A meeting with the Orange County legislative
delegation and a joint meeting with Durham County and Durham City will be scheduled at a
later date, and added to the schedule of regular meetings.
The calendar was presented at the November 3, 1999 meeting. Several conflicts were
identified and changes have been made to eliminate those conflicts.
All meetings will begin at 7:30 p.m. with the exception of the January 20th retreat, which will
begin at 3:00 p.m. and end at 10:00. Twenty six meetings are scheduled at the Southern
Human Services Center .Board Room; 15 at the F. Gordon Battle Courtroom and 10 at the
Government Services Center.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None
RECOMMENDATION (S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the schedule of
regular meetings for the year 2000.
