BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
February 17, 1969
The Board of County Commissioners of Orange County met in special adjourned
session in the office of Commissioner Carl M. Smith in Chapel Hill at 4:00 P.M.
on Monday, February 17, 1969.
Members Present: Chairman Carl M. Smith and Commissioners Harvey D. Bennett,
William C. Ray, Henry S. Walker and Ira A. Ward.
Members Absent: None
Dr. W. G. Andrews, District Extension Chairman, was also present.
Chairman Smith read a letter of resignation from Mr. Ed Barnes, -County
Extension Chairman. Said resignation is to be effective February 28, 1969.
Upon motion of Commissioner Bennett, seconded by Commissioner Walker,
it was moved and unanimously adopted that the resignation of Mr. Barnes be
accepted.
Dr. W. G. Andrews presented a candidate for the vacancy of County Extension
Chairman to be interviewed by the Board.
After the candidate was interviewed by the Board Dr. Andrews was reauested
to submit the names of additional candidates in order that the Board might have
a group from which to make a final selection.
There being no further business to come before the Board said meeting was
adjourned to meet again on Friday, February 21, 1969, at 4:00 P.M. in the
office of Commissioner Smith in Chapel Hill, N. C.

MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
February 21, 1969
The Board of County Commissioners of Orange County met in special adjourned
session at 4:00 P.M. on Friday, February 21, 1969, in the office of Commissioner
Carl M. Smith in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Members Present: Chairman Carl M. Smith and Commissioners Harvey D. Bennett,
William C. Ray, Henry S. Walker and Ira A. Ward.
Members Absent: None
The purpose of this meeting was to interview candidates for the position of
County Extension Chairman.
Dr, W. G. Andrews, District Extension Chairman, was present and presented
to the Board two additional candidates for the position of County Extension
Chairman. These candidates were interviewed by the Board.
The County Administrator reported to the Board the results of the bidding
for five (5) new cars for the County Sheriff's office. Two bids were received:
Yates Motor Company $7,710 and Ray Motor Company $8,520.
Upon motion of Commissioner Bennett, seconded by Commissioner Walker, it was
moved and unanimously adopted, that the low bid submitted by Yates Motor Company
be accepted.
There being no further business to come before the Board said meeting was
adjourned.
