PURPOSE:. To formally dissolve the Orange County Solid Waste Committee
BACKGROUND: The Board of Commissioners established the Orange County Solid Waste
Committee in 1992 to advise the Board on various aspects of the County's solid waste.
management plan, particularly regarding the methods for collecting solid waste in the
unincorporated portions of Orange County and how to finance that service. The committee met
for several years and provided. useful advice regarding the County's solid .waste convenience
center system.
With the development of the countywide integrated solid waste management plan, this
Committee has been inactive for several years. Wth the appointment of the Construction and
Demolition Waste Recycling Task Force, and the creation of the Solid Waste Advisory Board
under the new interlocal agreement with the Towns, it seems prudent to formally dissolve the
Solid Waste Committee, as it has effectively been superseded.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board formally dissolve the
Orange County Solid Waste Committee.
