HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 19681114BOOK 7 PAGE 152 Therefore, I move that a copy of the above be sent to Mr. Melvin Hearn, State Director of the Farmer's Home Administration, and to the Board of Directors of Orange-Almaance Water System, Inc. and that upon acceptance by Orange-Alamance Water L?Stem, Inc. that the above represents the understanding between them and the Orange County Board of Commissioners that we approve the current expansion of Orange-Alamance Water System, Inc, for which the Farmer's Home Administration has given a loan. Commissioner Ray seconded Commissioner Smith's resolution. Chairman Bennett asked if there was any discussion relative to Commissioner Smith's resolution. Mayor Cates asked each of the Allermen present if there were any comments they wished to make. No member of the Hillsborough Board of Aldermen expressed their approval of the proposal by the Orange-Alamance Water System, Inc, which would extend its services to the Swepsonville area. They expressed the opinion that the letter and agreement addressed to the Orange County Board of Commissioners from the Orange-Alamance Water System, Inc, offered more protection to the Town of Hillsborough than had been previously offered by the Orange- Alamanoe Water System, Inc. Mayor Cates stated that he was personally disappointed over the fact that the Orange-Alamance Water System, Inc.'s proposed plan did not provide for a water connection to the Hillsborough water system. Further discussion ensued. Chairman Bennett called for a vote on Commissioner Smith's resolution. Ayes: Commissioners Smith, Ray, Walker and Ward. Noes: Chairman Bennett Chairman Bennett declared the motion passed. Gattis, Acting Clerk ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS November 14, 1968 The Orange County Board of County Commissioners met on Thursday, November 14, 1968 at 2:30 P.M. in the Commissioners Room at the Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina in special session. Members Present: Commissioners William C. Ray, Henry S. Walker, Ira A. Ward and Carl M. Smith. Members Absent: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett Commissioner Henry Walker, Vice Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, called the meeting to order. Several property owners were present to discuss with the Board their tax assessment. These presentations involved old complaints relative to property that had been listed on the County tax record for two years or more. No action was taken on any of the complaints. There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting was adjourned to meet again on Tuesday, November 19, 1968 at 8:00 P.
