It was moved and adopted that this committee Should function for a one year
period and that Mrs. Quentin Patterson would serve as its Chairman and Glenn AuMent
would serve as its Vice Chairman. The Committee was requested to make a survey in
order to plan towards the coordinating of the existing recreational programs and to
generally offer assistance in the promoting of recreational aoti#ity. The Board
requested that the committee submit a report of its activities and its findings
early in the Spring of 1969.
There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting was
adjourned to meet again on Thursday, June 20, 1968.

The Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange, North Carolina met in
adjourned passion as duly advertised at 4 P.M. on June 20,-1968 for the purpose
of canvassing the election held on June 18, 1968 in the South Orange Fire
District Election.
Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett and Commissioners William C. Ray,
Henry S. Walker, and Ira A. Ward.
Members Absent: Commissioner Carl M. Smith.

Discussion ensued concerning the Dogwood Acres Sanitary District.
The following persons are to be appointed as Commissioners of the Sanitary Distriot
to serve until the General-_Flsctaon,,n.-November. They are: George Spransy, Willis
Knight and Boyd L. Neifitiif.
Upon motion of Commissioner Walker, seconded by Commissioner Ray, Chairman Bennett
was authorized to sign the following Blind Aid Grants:

Upon motion of Commissioner Ward, seconded by Commissioner Ray, it was moved and
adopted, that Chairman Bennett be authorized to sign the annual audit contract with
Ernst and Ernst of Raleigh, North Carolina.
The clerk was instructed to forward the following road petitions to the State
Highway Commission: SR #1124 and SR 1950.
_--c-owd asioner Walker and Commissioner Ray were requested to represent the Board of
Commissioners at a meeting to be held in conjunction with the Town of Hillsborough for
the purpose of trying to establish a Good Neighbor Committee and Human Relations Council.
There being no further business to come before the Board said meeting was adjourned
to meet again on Thursday, June 6, 1968 at 8 P.M. for a Recreational meeting and on
Thursday, June 20, 1968, at 4 P.M. for the purpose of canvassing the Special South
Orange Fire District Election.

BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
June 6, 1968
The Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange, North Carolina met at 8:00 P.M.
in adjourned session on Jima 6, 1968 in the Commissioners Room at the Courthouse in
Hillsborough, North Carolina.
Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett and Commissioners William C. Ray, Henry
S. Walker and Ira A. Ward.
Members Absent: Commissioner Carl M. Smith.
J. L. Beasley, County Wildlife Protector, informed the Board of the steps which must
be taken in order to declare Lake orange a spawning area. The County Administrator was
directed.to investigate this matter further and to make an appropriate report to the
Board of his findings.
The following persons were present for the Recreational meeting:
