Discussion ensued concerning the presented qualifications and it was
agreed that Chairman Bennett should advise Fiber Industries of the specified
qualifications and recuest that Fiber Industries, Inc., in turn;. notify
the-Board of-Commissioners of their reaction to the proposed qualifications.
There being no further business to come before the Board said meeting

MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
January 15, 1968
The Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange, North Carolina,
met in adjourned session at 5:30 P.M. on Monday, January 152 1968 in the
Aldermans room at the Chapel Hill Town Hall.
Members present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners William
C. Ray, Carl M. Smith, Henry S. Walker and Ira A. Ward.
Members Absent: None
Present also were Fred Cates, Mayor Town of Hillsborough; members of
the Hillsborough Town Board, Clerk for the Town of Hillsborough; the Water
Department Superintendent of the Town of Hillsborough; Chairman of the County
Planning Board; L. E. Beard, Town Board Consultant; and Lucius M. Cheshire,
Attorney for the Town of Hillsborough and the County of Orange.
Chairman Bennett advised the meeting that Fiber Industries, Inc. was
desirous of securing a water committment of 1,000,000 gallons of water per
day to their proposed plant site. This requested water agreement was made
to the County. Chairman Bennett stated that in order to supply the water
requested by Fiber Industries, Inc. the cost of said project would be:
Water Plant Improvement 250,000.00
Water Line Construction 500,000.00
It was the opinion of those persons in attendance that every effort
should be made to furnish the requested 1,000,000 gallons of water per day to the
proposed plant site.
Discussion ensued as to what arrangements or proposals could be instituted
in order to supply the needed water. The members of the Hillsborough Town
Board voted to commit the Town of Hillsborough to raising the necessary funds
in order to expand the present Hillsborough water plant facilities to the
capacity necessary to provide water to the proposed Fiber Industries, Inc.
plant site.
Upon motion of Commissioner Walker it was unanimously adopted that
Orange County advise Fiber Industries, Inc. that the County does commit
itself to the industries request of providing 1,000,000 gallons of water
per day to the plant site by March, 1970. ` _.
There being no further business to come before the Board said meeting
was -adjourned.
