BACKGROUND: At their March 23 work session, Board members indicated their desire to purchase laptop computers to access the Boards and Commissions database via the County Intranet site during Board of Commissioners' meetings. Ultimately, Board members would access meeting minutes and complete agenda documents using laptop computers with network connections via the County network. Funding for this expenditure would come from the fund set aside for Board and citizen access. Board action is required to release these funds. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Three Gateway laptop computers at $2,802 each. Total expenditure: $8,406. RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board authorize the purchase of three Gateway notebook computers at a total cost of $8,406.
