HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 19671102BCOK 7 PAGE 62 MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS November 2, 1967 The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Tbursday, November 2, 1967 at 1:30 p.m, at the Durham orange boundary line where it crosses the north side of Highway 15-501. Members Present: Chairman Harvey Bennett and Commissioners William C. Ray, Carl M. Smith, Henry S. Walker and Ira A. Ward. Members Absent: None Also present was a committee of the Durham County Board of Commissioners. This meeting was bald for the purpose of discussing with the engineer the progress being made on the Durham Orange County boundary survey. It was agreed to continue further with the work before any definite action would be taken. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. Harvey D. Gattis, Acting Clerk ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS November 6, 1967 The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, November 6, 1967 at 10:00 A.M. in the Commissioners room at the Courthouse in Hillaborougb, North Carolina. Members Present: Chairman Harvey Bennett and Commissioners William C. Ray, Carl M. Smith, Henry S. Walker and Ira A. Ward. Members Absent: None Dr. 0. David Garvin, District Health Officer, presented the following proposed memorandun of agreement between Orange County Board of Commissioners and Person County Board of Commissioners relative to the mental health project. "MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS AND PERSON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS WHEREAS, a community mental health program serving the citizens of this area of the state has been under consideration for several years, and studies showing the desirability and feasibility of a comprehensive mental health program have been completed; and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Orange and Person Counties each have executed a "Memorandum of Understanding Between the Local Mental Health, Authority and the North Carolina Department of Mental Health," enabling the establishment of a local mental health program pursuant to state law (G.S. 122-35.4); and WHEREAS, the Boards of Commissioners of Orange and Person Counties have been in consultation with the District Health Department, members of the Departments of Psychiatry and Psychology of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and representatives from the State Department of Mental Health, and each board has pledged financial support of such local mental health authority by the appropriation of funds; and WHEREAS, joint county mental health services are authorized by state law (G.S. 122-35.2) and this agreement is being made in order to establish a program of mental health services jointly operated by orange and Person Counties, with assistance from the State Department of Mental Health, the National Institute of Mental Health, and other govern- mental agencies; M
