BACKGROUND: National Volunteer Week is April 9-15. During the month of April, County Commissioners will show their appreciation far all the time and effort volunteers who serve on County boards and commissions give to Orange County by presenting each volunteer with a lapel pin. FINANCIAL IMPACT: An allocation for recognition of volunteers is included in the BOCC budget. RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approves and authorizes the Chair to sign this resolution of appreciation. 2 Resolution Volunteer Recognition In orange County Whereas, thousands of volunteers give of their time, energy and expertise to Orange County and other organizations to provide needed services to county residents; and, Whereas, volunteers contribute greatly to the enrichment of our communities and help make Orange County a better place to live; and, Whereas, volunteers are an invaluable asset to Orange County departments and agencies, and their service contributes to the cost effectiveness and efficiency of government operations; and, Whereas, volunteers strengthen and reinforce the democratic process by giving of their time to help salve community challenges; and, Whereas, during April the Board of County Commissioners will show its appreciation to its dedicated volunteers by presenting each with a lapel pin with the inscription "I make a Difference." Therefore, the Board of County Commissioners thanks our volunteers for their community spirit, expertise, dedication and commitment to the citizens of Orange County.
