PURPOSE:
To present checks to local artists and arts organizations receiving 1999-2000 Orange County
Arts Grants.
BACKGROUND:
The Orange County Arts Commission awards up to $1000 in matching funds to artists and arts
organizations for arts projects and events taking place in Orange County between January 1
and June 30, 2000. These grants are used to support pragrams in the visual, performing, and
literary arts. Funded projects include theater performances, art exhibits, writers' conferences,
children's arts and crafts, programs for seniors, and outdoor concerts, each to benefit Orange
County citizens.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
As parts of its annual budget, the Arts Commission was granted $18,800 to provide grants to
local artists and arts organizations ($16,800) and Emerging Artists grant program ($2,000).
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board acknowledge the local
recipients of the awards during the February 29, 2000 meeting with the presentation of checks
by the Board Chair, Moses Carey.
