MINUTES Or THE ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
July 25, 1967
The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in adjourned session
on Tuesday, July 25, 1967 at eight o'clock p..m, in the Community Room
of Orange Savings & Loan Association building in Chapel Hill, N. C.
Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett and Commissioners
William C. Ray, Carl M. Smith, Henry S. Walker and Ira A. Ward.
Members Absent: None
Thomas Rose and John Pridgen, Engineers for the Lake Orange Project,
and Pearson Stewart and Harry Palmer, representatives of the Research
Regional Planning Commission were present.
Discussion ensued relative to the possibility of other uses applicable,
other than water source supply, for Lake Orange. It was agreed that no
changes from previous policy would be made.
The County Administrator was directed to contact Lawrence Alley,
Engineer for the Industrial Park Project, and request that Mr. Alley
arrange for the construction of the access road from Mattress Factory Road
to the area that will serve the Piedmont Steel Tube Company. It was
estimated that said access road would be approximately 3600 feet long and
would cost approximately $12,000.00.
Discussion ensued concerning the acquisition of the land for Lake
Orange. The County Administrator was directed to inform the County Attorney
that the Board of Commissioners wish to incorporate in said deed certain
provisions in lieu of some of those previously suggested, and the Board
further requested that the County Attorney discuss with the attorney
representing the property owners the suggested provisions.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the
meeting was adjourned.

BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
August 2, 1967
The Orange County Board of Commissioners met :n adjourned session
on Wednesday, August 2, 1967 at four o'clock p.m. in the Commissioners
Room at the Courthouse in Hillsborough, N. C.
Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett and Commissioners William C.
Ray, Henry S. Walker and Ira A. Ward.
Members Absent: Commissioner Carl M. Smith.
This meeting was held for the purpose of receiving a report from the
attorneys, representing the landowners of the Lace Orange Project, relative to
the terms of the proposed deeds of gift. Dalton Loftin and A. H. Graham
presented this report.
Discussion ensued concerning the terms and the final draft of the deeds of
conveyance were approved and the attorneys were instructed to prepare said deeds.
The Board requested the Count.,, Attorney to have ready for execution the
contract, pertaining to the Lake Orange Project, from Valentines Construction
Company to Orange County.
There being no further business to come before the board said meeting
was adjourned.
