PURPOSE: To present award checks to Orange County artists and arts organizations
receiving 2001 Fall Arts Grants (Orange County Grants).
BACKGROUND: The Orange County Arts Commission, in its annual fall cycle, supports the
work of local artists and arts organizations through the distribution of Arts Program, Artist
Project and Arts In Education grants funded by the County. Funds for arts programming
reflect the diversity of Orange County. Each artist and arts organization receiving an Orange
County Arts Commission grant matches the award with local dollars. The board of the Orange
County Arts Commission reviews all grant requests and determines the successful recipients.
The BOCC presented the 2001 Spring Arts Grant Awards in November, 2001, and the current
awards constitute the Fall 2001 Arts Grant Awards.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funds ($14,988) are provided by Orange County for distribution by the
Arts Commission.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board acknowledge the local
recipients of the awards during the February 19, 2002 meeting with the presentation of checks
by the Board Chair, Barry Jacobs.
