PURPOSE: To consider appointing a representative to the Morgan Creek Trail Conceptual.
Plan Committee.
BACKGROUND: The Town of Chapel Hill is recruiting volunteers for the Morgan Creek Trail
Conceptual Plan Committee. The purpose of this Committee is to work with the North Carolina
Department of Transportation and the Town to participate in the planning and design of a 10-
foot wide asphalt and/or concrete multi-use path from Culbreth Road to Smith Level Road, with
additional access to the Merritt Pasture. The creation of this Committee allows for citizens,
nearby residents and property owners and neighboring jurisdictions to participate in the
planning process.
The Town of Chapel Hill, therefore, has asked the BOCC to identify a member to serve on this
Committee. The office of the Clerk to the BOCC has recruited and has received several
applications from interested citizens.
The Chapel Hill Town Council plans to finalize the appointments to the Committee this month.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None
RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider making an appointment to the Morgan Creek Trail
Conceptual Plan Committee.
