PURPOSE: To reappoint two members of the Little River Park Advisory Committee (LRPAC)
and to appoint one new member.
BACKGROUND: The Little River Park Advisory Committee was established in October 2001
by the four partner entities that worked together to acquire the 391-acre tract for the Little River
Regional Park and Natual Area: Orange County, Durham County, Triangle Land Conservancy
and Eno River Association.
The Committee is comprised of representatives from those four entities and a few citizens from
the area surrounding the future park. The Committee is expected to operate until the Park
opens in July 2003. The terms of Kim Watkins, Adjacent/Neary Property Owner; Sandra
Johnson Quinn, O/C Recreation and Parks Department; and Johnny Randall, O/C Commission
for the Environment (CFE), expire September 30, 2002.
A letter of recommendation has been received to reappoint Ms. Quinn and Ms. Watkins and to
replace Mr. Randall by another member of the CFE.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None
RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider reappointing Sandra Johnson Quinn and Kim Watkins to
second terms on the Little River Park Advisory Committee, with term expiration dates of
September 30, 2003. Consider appointing Annette Jurgelski, a member of the Orange County
Commission for the Environment, to replace Mr. Johnny Randall, for a term to expire on
September 30, 2003.
