PURPOSE: To consider a petition to add Old Heritage Court to the State-maintained Secondary
Road System.
BACKGROUND: Residents on Old Heritage Court (7 homes) have petitioned the North Carolina
Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to accept maintenance responsibilities for that road. Old
Heritage Court is located off the west side of Old NC 86, and provides access to Old Heritage
Pointe Subdivision, Chapel Hill Township. The Board approved Old Heritage Pointe Subdivision in
December 1995.
NCDOT has investigated this request (please refer to attached Secondary Road Addition Report)
and has submitted the petition to the Board of Commissioners for its review and approval. The
Board must take an administrative action to approve the petition to NCDOT in order for NCDOT to
accept Old Heritage Court into the State Maintenance Program.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no direct financial impact associated with this decision item.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Administration recommends that the Board approve the request to
add Old Heritage Court to the State Secondary Road Maintenance Program.
