HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 19661019498 MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS October 19, 1966 The Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange, North Carolina, met in adjourned session at the County Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina, at 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 19, 1966 in the Courtroom at the Courthouse in Hillsborough. - Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners Gordon B. Cleveland, William C. Ray, Carl M. Smith and Henry S. Walker. Also present was Alvin Hawkins, representative of the Town of Mebane, and Precinct Officials and Officers of the Republican and Democratic County Executive Committees. The purpose of this meeting was to present to this group detailed information concerning the proposed Water and Sewer Bond election which is to be held on November 8, 1966. Presentations of the entire project to be covered by said bond election was presented by Alvin Hawkins, Carl M. Smith, Harvey Bennett and Don S. Matheson. A question and answer period followed said presentation. There being no further business to come before the Beard said meeting was adjourned to meet again on Monday October 24, 1966 at 10:00 A.M. in the Commissioners Room at the Courthouse in Hillsborough. Bennett Chairman Betty June Hayes, Clerk MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS October 24, 1966 The Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange, North Carolina, met in adjourned session at the County Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina, at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, October 247 1966 in the Commissioners Room at the Courthouse in Hillsborough. Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners Gordon B. Cleveland, William C. Ray, and Henry S. Walker. Members Absent: Commissioner.Carl M. Smith. The purpose of this meeting was to meet with representatives of TV Station WTVD in order to film a news report. Said report did present the issues involved concerning the importance of the passage of the Water and Sewer Bond election. There being no further business to come before the Board said meeting was adjourned to meet again on Monday, October 31, 1966 at 10:30 A.M. in the Commissioners Room at the Courthouse in Hillsborough. Smith'on Columbia Street in Chapel Hill at 4:00 P.M. on Friday, October 29, 1966. Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners Gordon B. Cleveland, William C. Ray, and Henry S. Walker. Members Absent: None Also present were Mr. C. W. Stanford, Chairman County Board of Education, Mr. G. Paul Carr, Superintendent County School System, Mr. Grey Culbreth, Chairman Board of Education and Board Member, Mrs. Ross Scroggs, Dr. Richard Peters and Dr. Ellis, and Mr. Willard.Swiers,_Superintendent-of Chapel Hill School System was also present.
