Petition Letter & Secondary Road Addition Investigation Report for: Eno Woods Trail, Wild Harvest Court, Trading Path, Fews Fard Lane, and Laurel Creek Way INFORMATION CONTACT: Karen Lincoln, 245-2594 PURPOSE: To consider a petition to add subdivision roads in Eno Woods subdivision to the State Maintained Secondary Road System. BACKGROUND: The property owners in Eno Woods subdivision have petitioned the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to accept maintenance responsibilities for Eno Woods Trail (9 homes), Wild Harvest Court (5 homes), Trading Path (6 homes), Fews Ford Lane (3 homes), and Laurel Creek Way (8 homes). Eno Wands is Iccated in Eno Township at the southwest corner of Umstead Road and Cole Mill Road. The main subdivision road, Eno Woods Trail, takes access off the west side of Umstead Road in Durham County. The Board approved the preliminary plat for Eno Wocds an June 5, 1995, stipulating in its resolution of approval that "All roads shall be irrevocably dedicated to the general public and be constructed to the standards of the North Carclina Department of Transportation" and that "approval of this resolution authorizes and directs the Orange County Manager to accept far Orange County and on behalf of the public generally, the offer of dedication for Eno Woods Trail, Laurel Creek Way, Wild Harvest Court, Fews Ford Lane, Trading Path, and the 50-foot right-of-way stub out on lot 19 .. without maintenance responsibility." The resolution further states that the owner/applicant shall maintain those roads "until such time as they are accepted for maintenance by the North Carolina Department of Transportation or some other governmental body." NCDOT has investigated the request (please refer to attached Secondary Road Addition Report), and has submitted the petition to the Board of Commissioners for its review and approval. The Board must take an administrative action to approve the petition to NCDOT in order for NCDOT to add those subdivision roads to the State Maintained System and accept maintenance responsibilities.
