PURPOSE: To receive public comment on proposed Special Use Standards for schools in the
Buckhorn Economic Development District (EDD).
BACKGROUND: Various uses within the EDD manual are noted as a Class A or B Special Use
Permit without specific standards. Schools are not presently permitted in the Buckhorn EDD, but a
proposed amendment to the permitted use table, if approved, would make them a Class A Special
Use.
Staff has developed a list of special use standards for schools that would be combined with the
general standards. The list is attached.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None at this time.
RECOMMENDATION(S): Planning Staff recommends approval of the proposed amendment.
The Administration recommends that the proposed amendment be referred to the Planning Board
for a recommendation to be returned to the BOCC no sooner than October 1, 2003.
