HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda - 10-03-2005-9d1ORANGE COUNTY BAARD OF COMMISSIONERS ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT Meeting Date: October 3, 2005 Action Agend_ a Item No. SUBJECT: Unified Transportation Advisory Board -Initial Appointments DEPARTMENT: Board of Commissioners PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No ATTACHMENT(S): Under Separate Cover Membership Roster Interest List Application(s)/Resume(s) of Person(s) on the Interest List INFORMATION CONTACT: Clerk's Office, 919-245-2125 PURPOSE: To consider making initial appointments to the Orange County Unified Transportation Advisory Board, BACKGROUND: The formation of the Advisory Board was agreed upon on May 17, 2005, The Unified Transportation Advisory Board's charge is as follows: • Advise BOCC and provide information and comments on major transportation issues in the County; • Provide recommendations regarding overall planning and programming of transportation improvements in the County; • Identify and prioritize the County's roadway and transit needs along with associated costs and specific sources of funding; • Assist in the development and review of the transportation component of the Comprehensive Plan; • Provide recommendations to BOCG on Federal and State legislation affecting transportation in Orange County; Explore and make recommendations on innovative techniques and methods to improve the efficiency and capacity of existing and future transportation systems, The Unified Transportation Advisory Board membership's categorical composition was suggested as follows, Only one member would be selected from each category, Applicants that met the categorized descriptions are noted.
