This meeting was held for the purpose of discussing with the Mebane Town Board
of Alderman an agreement previously adopted concerning a water and sewer line which
is to be constructed to an industrial site east of the Town of Mebane. Discussion
ensued concerning the plans, which has received preliminary approval of a loan'and
grant for the construction of such a water line, by the Orange-Alamance Water
System, Inc. These plans, however, do not include the needed sewage line to the
proposed industrial site. Due to the fact that no assurance had been give to
either of the governmental Boards that the Orange-Alamance Water System, Inc. will
be in operation or servicing the proposed industrial area by the summer of 1967,
the time which the proposed industry desires to begin its operation, both the Mebane
Town Board and the Orange County Board of Commissioners agreed that the proposed
revenue bond issue must be presented to the Local Government Commission for the
necessary approval .,Z"
The Orange County Board of Commissioners reviewed the:-proposed 1966-1967 county
budget and talked-with some of the Department Officials.
There being no further business to come before the meeting same was adjourned
to meet again on Wednesday, July 13, 1966, at 7:30 p.m. in the Commissioners room
at the courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina.

MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
July 13, 1966
The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in adjourned session on Wednesday,
July 13, 1966 at 7:30 p.m. in the Commissioners room at the courthouse in
Hillsborough, North Carolina.
Members present: Chairman Harvey Bennett, Commissioners Gordon B. Cleveland,
William C. Ray, Carl M. Smith and Henry S. Walker.
Members absent: None
This meeting was held for the purpose of studying the 1966-1967 proposed county
budget.
Commissioner Cleveland moved that the county tax rate be established at 94C and
that $49.00 per capita be appropriated to the School Current Expense budget. This
motion died for the lack of a second.,
Commissioner Smith moved that the county tax rate be set at 94C and that
$48.00 per capita be appropriated for the School Current Expense. Commissioner
Walker seconded this motion. Commissioners Ray, Walker and Smith voted yes and
Commissioner Cleveland voted no. Chairman Bennett declared the motion passed.
Commissioner Ray presented a road petition for road 01544 and the Clerk was
authorized to forward same to the State Highway Commission.
There bing no further business to come before the meeting same was adjourned to
meet again on Monday, July 250 1966 at 8 o'clock p.m. in the Commissioners room at
the courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina.
