HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES-2026-040-A Resolution Regarding the Use of Occupancy Tax for Tourism Related Expenditures RES- 202 &0401 �D '�l 5j Caltolac0 Attachment 5 ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS RESOLUTION A Resolution Regarding the Use of Occupancy Tax for Tourism Related Expenditures WHEREAS , the county has been authorized to collect Occupancy Taxes on hotel and short-term rental stays since 1991 , WHEREAS , tourism is a vital part of Orange County' s economy , generating revenue that supports the county , WHEREAS , it is important for Orange County to continue to invest in future tourism that will enable the County to recruit , retain , grow , and generate businesses and jobs that are desirable ; NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED the Orange County Board of Commissioners hereby states its intent to use Occupancy Tax to reinvest into initiatives that support the tourism industry ; and , NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED the Orange County Board of Commissioners hereby considers the following examples as investments the County has made to support the tourism industry : the Orange County/Chapel Hill Visitors Bureau , the arts and arts festivals , capital investments in parking and other amenities that serve visitors , athletic and recreation facilities and programs that attract visitors as well as other investments intended to encourage or support tourism and the hospitality industry in Orange County .
