BACKGROUND: All members of the Visitors Bureau are appointed by the BOCC for three- yearterms. The Visitors Bureau is charged with developing and coordinating visitor services in Orange County. It also implements marketing programs that will enhance the economic activity and quality of life in the community. The terms of Sam Hobgood, representing the Hillsborough Chamber of Commerce; Anne Loeb, representing the Orange County Economic Development Commission; and Bill Crowther, representing the Alliance for Hillsborough have expired. They each have been recommended for reappointment and are eligible to serve another term. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider making appointments to the Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Bureau as follows: Sam Hobgood, first full term to expire 12/31/2005, representing the Hillsborough Chamber of Commerce; Anne Loeb, second term to expire 12/31/2005, representing the Orange County Economic Development Commission; and Bill Crowther, first full term to expire 12/31/2005, representing the Alliance for Historic Hillsborough. ~'. ~ r~^ ~ O .. The following is the latest information regarding the seats that were vacated at the end of 2002. (1) Alliance for Historic Hillsborouah. The Alliance's Director, Cathleen Turner, sent an email indicating that group had voted for Bill Crowther to continue to represent them. A copy of the message I received will be faxed to you for your records. During his most recent appointment Bill had one excused absence. (2) The~n~ indicated its Board had decided for Anne Loeb to continue with a second term. Anne had 3 excused absences during the three years that she served previously. (3) Chapel Hill/Carrboro Chamber of Commerce. I received today a letter of recommendation from the Chamber. It will be sent to you via fax along with the email from the Alliance.
