PURPOSE: To consider the reappointment of one member to the Solid Waste Advisory Board.
BACKGROUND: Two members are appointed by each of: BOCC, Town of Carrboro, Town of
Chapel Hill, and Town of Hillsborough. This Board recommends programs, policies, expansions
and reductions of services, and other matters related to the operation of the Orange County
Solid Waste System, and furthers such missions and goals for the System as the County may
adopt.
Ms. Bonnie L. Norwood was appointed by the BOCC in 2001 for a partial term which expires
this month. She is eligible for reappointment and has requested same.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider appointing Ms. Bonnie L. Norwood to a first full three-year
term on the Solid Waste Advisory Board with a term expiration date of June 30, 2006.

OTHER COMMENTS: I feel the Board of County Commissioners needs to have someone on the
Solid Waste Advisory Board that lives at the Landfill. It would enable me to give them insight as
to what it would be like to live in that environment and feedback from the neighborhood.
