I have experience managing teams and coordinating services, which has helped me develop skills in communication, problem-solving, and advocating for people's needs. In addition, I have been actively involved in mental health education and community support through programs such as the Peer-to-Peer training with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAM]). This experience has strengthened my understanding of how systems of care impact individuals and families, especially those who depend on community services. These experiences have helped me develop empathy, organizational skills, and the ability to listen carefully to concerns; qualities that are important when advocating for residents in adult care homes and nursing homes. Please explain your reasons for wanting to serve on this board I am interested in serving because I believe community members play an important role in ensuring that people who live in care facilities are treated with respect, dignity, and compassion. Many residents of adult care homes and nursing homes rely on others to advocate for their well- being. I would like to contribute my time and perspective to help ensure their voices are heard and that facilities are supporting residents in a safe and respectful environment. Serving on this board would allow me to give back to the community while helping improve awareness, transparency, and support for individuals who may not always have the ability to advocate for themselves. 18 Page 2 of 3 Giovanna Mollinedo How would your particpation on this board contribute to the diversity of viewpoints? As a member of a multicultural Peruvian-American family and someone who has lived and worked in different environments, I bring a perspective shaped by diverse cultural and life experiences. My background has helped me understand how culture, language, and access to information can affect how families navigate healthcare and care systems. I believe these perspectives can be valuable when considering how services impact different populations within our community. I also value listening to others and collaborating across different viewpoints, which I believe helps advisory boards make balanced and thoughtful recommendations. Affordable Housing Advisory Board Please explain how your background, education and experience is relevant to this board My experience working with people and managing teams has given me insight into how housing stability affects families, workers, and communities. Housing is a key factor that influences access to employment, education, and healthcare. Through my professional and community experiences, I have seen how housing challenges can create barriers for individuals and families trying to build stability in their lives. These experiences have motivated me to learn more about housing issues and explore ways communities can create practical and sustainable solutions. I bring strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills that would allow me to thoughtfully contribute to discussions about housing policies and community needs. Please explain your reasons for wanting to serve on this board Affordable housing is one of the most important challenges facing many communities today. I am interested in contributing to efforts that help create opportunities for individuals and families to live in stable and safe environments. What concerns or emerging issues does this board/commission anticipate for the upcoming year that it plans to address or wishes to bring to the BOCC's attention? The lack of affordable housing inventory continues to be a major obstacle to achieving our mission of providing stable, dignified housing. This challenge intersects with planning and zoning decisions that could otherwise increase the supply of affordable housing. Additional sources of funding should be investigated to complement existing local, state, and federal funds, including private and philanthropic funds. Further analysis of the existing affordable housing stock and past housing investments is needed to support evidence-based decision making.
