SUBJECT: Additional Discussion on Strategic Communications Approaches

PURPOSE: To further discuss and consider possible approaches to the County's Strategic
Communications efforts, specifically community listening sessions, and provide direction to staff.
BACKGROUND: The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) discussed strategic
communications approaches during its April 7, 2026 Business meeting. At that time, the Board
considered options for enhancing collaboration with residents, including the creation of project-
based stakeholder groups and the implementation of quarterly updates to the BOCC.
This item provides an opportunity for the Board to continue the discussion, with a particular focus
on potential approaches to community listening sessions.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with this item.

RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board continue its discussion on
potential approaches to the County's strategic communications initiatives and specifically provide
direction to staff regarding community listening sessions, including the role of Board members.
