BACKGROUND: Durham Technical Community College President JB Buxton will provide a presentation to the Board on various topics including some College goals, the outlook for the future, the Orange County K-12 Partnerships, County-supported Workforce initiatives, and the Orange County Campus addition/renovation project. FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with receiving the presentation. ALIGNMENT WITH STRATEGIC PLAN: This item supports: • GOAL 5: PUBLIC EDUCATION/LEARNING COMMUNITY OBJECTIVE 1. Foster collaborative relationships with formal and informal educational organizations and agencies to provide opportunities for community members to meet, connect, and learn together. • GOAL 6: DIVERSE AND VIBRANT ECONOMY OBJECTIVE 5. Increase access to and awareness of resources and assistance available to residents and businesses. OBJECTIVE 6. Provide workforce and business development resources to enhance the skills of residents of the County. RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board receive the presentation and provide any comments and questions.
