PURPOSE: To consider the reappointments of two members to the Advisory Board on Aging.
BACKGROUND: There being eleven regular seats and one B.O.C.C. Liaison seat on the
Orange County Advisory Board on Aging; and, at the end of June this year, there being four
members whose terms will expire; and two of those desiring to continue serving on this Board,
and who are eligible for reappointment; and two of those not desiring to continue serving; it is
therefore the request of the Advisory Board on Aging that Ms. Mariah McPherson and Ms.
Mildred Council be reappointed. They both serve in At-Large positions and both are very active
on the Board.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider appointing Ms. Mildred Council and Ms. Mariah
McPherson each to a second term on the Advisory Board on Aging to the same At-Large
positions they currently serve in, and each with a term to expire June 30, 2006.

Subject: Board Reappointments
There are four members of the Advisory Board on Aging with upcoming term expirations in June
this year.
They are:
a) Jennie Capparella, Carrboro seat, serving in an unexpired term to expire June 30, 2003;
b) Mariah McPherson, At-Large seat, serving a first full term to expire June 30, 2003
c) Mildred Council, At-Large seat, serving a first full term to expire Junne 30, 2003; and
d) Marvin Block, Chapel Hill seat, serving a first full term to expire June 30, 2003.
Ms. Capparella and Mr. Block do not desire to be reappointed to the Advisory Board on Aging,
and the Board is actively seeking folks to take their place.
Ms. Mariah McPherson and Ms. Mildred Council have expressed interest in being reappointed
to the Advisory Board on Aging and they both have very good attendance and participation on
the Board.
The Advisory Board on Aging therefore respectfully requests that Ms. McPherson and Ms.
Council be appointed for second terms on the Advisory Board on Aging.
