BACKGROUND: There are two seats on the Carrboro Board of Adjustment that may be appointed by the Orange County Board of County Commissioners: the ETJ (Extraterritorial Jurisdiction) and the Transition Area. The ETJ seat is vacant. Dr. James R. Dingfelder has applied to serve as the ETJ representative on the Carrboro Board of Adjustment. The Town of Carrboro has recommended him by Resolution, adopted May 7, 2002 to fill the ETJ seat on the Carrboro Board of Adjustment. By N.C. statute, the Board of County Commissioners has 90 days (which will be August 7, 2002) in which to make this appointment after receiving a Resolution from the town's governing body. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider appointing Dr. James R. Dingfelder as the ETJ representative on the Carrboro Board of Adjustment to a first full term to expire February 28, 2005.
