In Attendance: Tracy Holsinger, Sandy Walker, Jackie Podger, Jon Wilner, Daniel Leonard,

1. Welcome.Tracy started the meeting and wished the group a Happy New Year.
2. Introductions and Announcements
3. Approval of Minutes—December 9, 2025. The minutes were approved.
Director's Report
4. Staff Updates
a. Seymour Center Facility Manager—Kristin Tinnen was promoted from the Evening
Facility Manager position.
b. Request to Fill submitted for Seymour Center Evening Facility Manager. Waiting
for County Manager's approval to post job listing.
5. Preparing for CPAAA Annual Monitoring visit—Feb. 3-4. This monitoring will include:
Health Promotion Programs, Senior Center Operations, Info &Assistance, &Options
Counseling; 2 grants: PEAS and Choosing Home.
6. All Ages All Stages Multi-Sector Plan on Aging Retreat—Jan. 15. Janice co-leads the
Strengthening Community for a Lifetime group, which includes Housing, Connectivity and
Digital Equity, Social Determinants of Health and Age Friendly and Adult Protective
Services.
7. Carol Woods Residents meeting—February 11 —`Thank you'for charitable gift supporting
the Master Aging Plan. BOCC Chair Jean Hamilton will be presenting. Janice will host an
information table about our department for the Carol Woods residents.
8. Internal County Roadshow—January 28.We will be tabling.
9. 100t"Aging Well Together Radio Show—Feb. 5. Janice and Marilyn will be the guests.
10. VITA Tax Assistance appointments open on January 12. Service runs from Feb. 1 —
April 15. Jeanne will come to next month's meeting to share this year's SHIIP Medicare Part
D Enrollment stats.
11. Sample of upcoming programs:
a. Dementia Basics—Jan. 8, 15, 22, 29 10 -noon at the Drakeford Library Complex
b. Celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. —Jan. 16 at 10 a.m. Passmore Center
c. Memory Cafe: MLK Day of Service -Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. Seymour Center
d. Empowering Healthy Aging Through Nutrition—Jan. 23 2:30 p.m. Seymour Center
e. Scam Awareness in Orange County—Jan. 29 10 a.m. Passmore Center
f. Black History Breakfast—Feb. 6 10 a.m. Hargraves Center
g. Love Is In the Air Banquet with the Hannan Ruth Foundation— Feb. 7 4 p.m.

Lots of new classes are starting this month.
New Business
12. FY26-27 Budget. Kickoff was January 8. Janice shared points from the Budget
(Guidelines) PowerPoint.
13. BOCC Aging Board Annual Report. Janice will prepare and turn in the report by this
Friday, January 16. Tracy and Janice will share the report in February or March.
2022-27 Master Aging Plan
14. Quarterly meetings are happening
15. Survey Design for 2027-32 MAP is being worked on with input from the MAP
workgroups. Looking at early May for the Survey design to be completed.
Committee Progress Reports if needed:
16. Senior Tar Heel Legislature—Vibeke Talley, STHL Delegate and Rafael Velez, STHL
alternate delegate. Rafael highlighted how important increasing advocacy will be moving
forward. At monthly STHL tabling in our centers, they will offer a paper form to write a
handwritten letter to your representatives, and then bulk send them on behalf of
participants. Let your senator/representative know what these centers have done for you!
17. Nursing Home and Adult Care Home Joint Community Advisory Committee—Jackie
Podger. Their quarterly meeting is tonight at Seymour and will cover the past quarter's visits
and going over those notes. They are currently a committee of 10 and 14 is the maximum.
They have received several applications, but applicants have not been reaching out after
Learning of the necessary 32 hours'training needed to be on the committee.
18. Friends of the Passmore Center. No reports.
19. Friends of the Seymour Center. No reports.
Jeff shared his worry of public health recommendations, including immunizations, and how
that could affect senior's health now and in the future. It could be a priority for the
Community Support& Health Services MAP workgroup. Joanne, Dan, and the group had a
discussion about the new food pyramid.
Estella shared she has been working with 15 or 16 seniors looking for jobs. Prior to the
holiday, things were slow, but she is now getting more response for employers- optimism is
higher. She hopes to report 4 to 5 people having new jobs at our next meeting.
