HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 19660209432 The following departmental reports were submitted: Medical Examiner's Report, Veteran Service Officerfs Report, Clerk of Courtis Report. Commissioner Ray brought to the attention of the Board a request which had previously been made by Wiley B. Perry of Rt. 2, Mebane, N. C., pertaining to the removal of the load limit on a portion of the highway from N. C. 70 south to I-85 and known locally as the Buckhorn Road. The length of the road is approximately .3 c a mile. The Clerk was requested to write the State Highway Commission and request that said load limit be removed and refer the Highway Commission to previous action taken by the Board of Commissioner on this request. Commissioner Ray brought to the attention of the Board that Lacy Gibson, Supervisor for the Farmers Home Administration, had proposed that Orange County make application for a water survey through the Farmers Home Administration. Commissioner Ray stated that this survey could be made through the Ti. S. Department of Agriculture at no cost to the County. Upon motion of Commissioner Ray, seconded by Commissioner Smith, and unanimously adopted, Chairman Bennett was authorized to sign the necessary application in order that Orange County might request a water survey through the facilities of the U. S. Department of Agriclture. The following jury list were drawn: March 21 Civil Term - 60 names March 28 Civil Term - 60 names April 25 Criminial Term - 84 names The County Administrator presented bids received from Ray Motor Company and Yates Motor Company on an automobile which is to be purchased for his department. the bids were as follows: Yates Motor Co. - 1966 Fury Plymouth - $2700.00 Ray Motor Co. - 1966 County Sedan - $2747.01 Upon motion of Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Ray, the County Administrator was.authorized to purchased the 1966 Fury Plymouth from Yates Motor Cr.,pany. There being no further business. to come before the Board the meeting was adjourned to meet again on Wednesday, February 9th at ten 61clock a.m. in the Agricultural Building in Hillsborough, N. C. Bennett Chairman The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in adjourned session on Wednesday, February 9, 1965, at ten o'clock a.m. at the Agricultural Building in Hillsborough, N. C. Members present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, Commissioners William C. Ray Carl M. Smith and Henry Walker. Members absent: Commissioner Gordon B. Cleveland The purpose of this meeting was to attend the annual District Seven meeting of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners. A program of current interest items to County Commissioners was present by John Morrisey, General Counsel of the Commissioner Association.
