PURPOSE: To consider one reappointment to the Jury Commission.
BACKGROUND: This commission reviews the list of potential jurors and prepares the jury list,
One citizen appointment is made by the Board of County Commissioners to this three-member
Commission. One appointment is made by the Senior Resident Superior Court Judge, and the
third appointment is made by the Clerk of Superior Court.
Mr. Bob Hall has been serving as the BOCC's representative on the Jury Commission, His first
term will expire on June 30, 2004.. When contacted by staff, Mr. Hall expressed a desire to
continue serving for a second term, James C.Stanford, Clerk of Court, sent a letter of
recommendation for Mr, Hall's reappointment.
There is also a vacancy in the seat appointed by the Clerk of Court because of the unfortunate
passing of Ms. Ruth P, Woodall late last year, Mr. Stanford mentioned to staff that he would like
to convey to the Board of County Commissioners that he highly commends Ms, Woodall's
service and devotion to duty on the .fury Commission even through her illness.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider reappointing Mr. Bob Hall to the Jury Commission for a
second two-year term to expire June 30, 2006.

I bring to your attention the expiration of the term of Bob Hall, the appointee of the Orange
County Commissioners, to our jury cormission. As you know, I do not serve on the jury
commission but my office is chazged with providing clerical support to it. In that role I have
worked with Mr. Hall along with his fellow jury commissioners in the preparation of the 200:3
and 2004 master jury lists. I have found Mr. Hall to be competent and conscientious in his
approach to his duties. I feel comfortable in saying that I believe that his fellow commissioners
would join in my opinion Therefore please inform the Orange County Board of Commissioners
of my endorsement of the reappointment of Mr. Hall to a second two-year term on the Orange
County Jury Commission.
