PURPOSE: To consider making appointments to the Recreation and Parks Advisory Council
(RPAC).
BACKGROUND: There are six vacancies on the RPAC and several people have applied to
serve. One of the vacancies is for a resident of the Carrboro city limits. Mr. Patrick Sullivan, who
has been filling the Chapel Hill Township position, recently moved to Hogan Farms, which is
now within the incorporated city limits of Carrboro. Therefore, he would be eligible to serve in
that position.
The members of RPAC recently voted on six of the applicants to fill the other vacancies. Please
refer to the chart below which summarizes the vacant positions, the special representation of
each position, the expiration date, and the name of the applicant that the RPAC would like to
recommend.
Position
Number Person Recommended Special Representation Expiration Date
1 Lindsay B. Wichers Chapel Hill City Limits 03/31/2005
2 Robb English Hillsborough Township 03/31/2004
4 Patrick M. Sullivan
move him from position 5 Carrboro City Limits 03/31/2005
5 Tom Sievert (if Sullivan is moved) Chapel Hill Township 03/31/2005
9 Frances Douglass Bingham Township 03/31/2004
10 Michael Beattie Hillsborough Town Limits 03/31/2005
12 Marla Fearrington Cheeks Township 03/31/2004
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None
RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider moving Patrick M. Sullivan from position 5, Chapel Hill
Township, to position 4, Carrboro City Limits. This would create a vacancy in the Chapel Hill
position. Then, consider making six appointments to the Recreation and Parks Advisory
Council.
