since policy was approved.

5. FY23-24 Grants Cycle Katie Murray
a. FY24 Funding- "outside agency" funds that were provided last year and this year have been reduced
due to county decisions so total grant budget is$74,000.The Board's understanding is that Kidzoo will
be funded with these removed funds directly by outside agency without any grant review process.
Motion to prepare a draft letter to BOCC to express our concern over the funding changes for arts
organization was seconded and approved.
b. Multicultural requirement will be harder to reach this year due to money's going to staffing and the lack
of multicultural arts organizations. Good volume of multicultural artists, but not organization.

their calendars for the opening and closing events.
b. Upcoming events
i. Weave &Spin featuring Ross White on Wednesday
ii. Juneteenth: Portraits of Freedom on Saturday, 2-6pm in partnership with Renee Price and a lot
of other sponsors.
c. Community Dark Room—Katie asked for board input regarding a community dark room. Equipment
donated from the Arts Center, and we are lined up to move it to the Eno Mill. Katie is now questioning
whether we should really commit resources to this space vs other arts need. Board thought Katie
should move forward with getting equipment and storing it since there is a need for this type of space in
community.
d. Office of Equity& Human Rights mural/Juneteenth -- Katie was informed that there is a second County
Juneteenth program going on in Hillsborough earlier in the day than the arts related one we are assisting
with for Renee Price. Katie is trying to coordinate with the Office, but hasn't been successful.A new
mural of Pauli Murray from the Office of Equity& Human Rights is in the works without any kind of
artists call or process. Katie offered her assistance with the process and was told she was not needed
since everything was already approved. Fred offered to go with Katie to meet with the new County
diversity officer to discuss our board and the types of initiatives we pursue and work with. Katie will be
creating a county-wide public arts best practice document. Discussion on the board about how to
connect more with Countywide initiatives and integrate the Arts advisory board.
e. Countywide DEIA Program with Aisha Adams—Anita recommended a separate Board retreat to unpack
and discuss diversity and DEIA. Board agreed.
f. Summer Camp has started. Katie needs camp assistance to work with the camps to assist instructors as
needed. Katie will send around a volunteer email with times and a sign-up link.
