Board Members present: Fred Joiner, Chair;Anita Mills, Vice-Chair;Delia Keefe, Secretary; Crystal Wu,

Staff Present: Katie Murray, Executive Director
1) Anita called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm.
2) Marlon moved to approve the February minutes.
Krista seconded. The minutes were approved.
Fred took over the meeting.
3) In-person meetings begin in May.
The board will begin meeting in-person in May. The
meetings in Hillsborough will be held at the Mill.
Peel Gallery in Carrboro will host the Chapel Hill meetings
beginning in June.
4) Board member discussion
a) Update on Mark Bettger
Mark Bettger has been approved and will go to the
BOCC in April.
b) Application for Saba Jordan
Marlon moved to accept Saba Jordan to the board.
Fred seconded. The board approved this appointment.
c) We need a representative to the Visitors Bureau.
This is very important.
5) Director's Report
a) Eno Mill Update
i)April's show- HOME
The show will be jointly presented by the OCAC and
the OC Department on Housing. We received 64 visual artist
applications and 24 applications from writers.
ii) Camps
We will announce 9 camps tomorrow. The camps are for
all ages and are very affordable. Some are half-day. Some
are full-day.
b) OCAA update
Strategic planning is in progress. When the strategic planning is
finished we will have an official launch.
c) Big Night In
The total raised was 260k. We do not know our proceeds yet.
The board discussed continued involvement in this event. This
was a tough year with donor fatigue, burnout, the Ukraine war,
and the pandemic.
d) River Park Arch
Jonathan Brilliant is starting installation tomorrow. We will
issue a press release. This will be going on during Last Fridays.
e) Our Lens, Our Voice
The county Criminal Justice Department partnered with artists
to work with youth on photography and poetry projects. The
exhibit will be open during the Last Fridays in April. There will be
a reception for the board and others who have been involved on
Thursday, April 28th
f) Handmade Parade
This will be held on Saturday, April 30th. OCAC will wear OCAC
t-shirts and will be walkers for puppets.
6) FY 22-23 Grant Cycle
Katie will discuss this fully at next month's meeting.
7) Liaison reports
a) UNC Student Liaison Update
Students are on spring break. Everything has picked up and the
mask mandate has been lifted.
b) Chapel Hill Arts Commission
c) UNC
The arts are active on campus.
d) Hillsborough Arts Council
Katie feels that communication with the arts council has improved.
e) The ArtsCenter
f) Carrboro Arts
g) Visitors Bureau
h) OCAG
The guild has welcomed 20 new members. The guild is developing
an internal newsletter.
Fred adjourned the meeting at 7:43 pm.
