2025 Site Agreement
Thank you for your interest in hosting one of sixty works of art to be featured during Uproar Festival of Public Art! The purpose
of Uproar is to help drive visitation into our downtown communities by transforming Orange County into a month-long arts
destination. We appreciate your help in making this possible!
Uproar site FAQ’S
Q: What is the timeline?
A: Uproar kicks off Friday, August 1 and runs through Saturday, August 23. Work will be installed the weeks of July 21
(Triangle-based artists) and July 28 (out-of-town artists) and uninstalled August 24 - 27. Our team will coordinate with you
to determine the best installation time based on artists’ availability (many are from out of town) and equipment needs, so
we appreciate your flexibility.
Q: Do I have input in what art I’m agreeing to host?
A: The Uproar team has selected work to match the site types based on the specific needs of our art, and the specific
offerings of your site, such as ground surface and open space. It’s like putting together a very difficult puzzle, and we ask for
you to trust our team and our Artist Selection Panel. The beauty of art is that it is subjective and not everyone loves the
same thing, but factoring personal taste into this logistics puzzle would make Uproar coordination almost impossible.
Q: How will hosting art benefit my business?
A: Uproar is essentially a big scavenger hunt. Throughout the month, people will seek out the artwork throughout our
communities and vote on their favorite (the People’s Choice winner and 1st Place winner each win $10,000!). As an Uproar
site, you will benefit from foot-traffic as well as inclusion in the Uproar website, printed and online maps, the Uproar voting
platform, and more.
Q: What if something happens to the art?
A: Uproar artists are encouraged to purchase liability insurance for their work in the event of damage or theft. They will be
required to sign a hold harmless agreement releasing you of any liability related to the work. However, as a site, we ask that
you do your best to look after your art during the festival, ensuring that it remains visible, unobstructed, and protected
within your abilities (see more information in the agreement terms below).
Q: Will the art alter my property?
A: All art will be installed by a paid team of professional art handlers. If any alterations to your property are required (such as
anchoring work to concrete, or hanging work from an outside wall of your building), this will be discussed with you in
advance and your site returned to its original space after the festival. We will not alter your property without your
permission.

2025 Uproar Festival of Public Art Site Agreement
This agreement is between __________________________________ (“Host”) and Orange County, NC a political subdivision of
the State of North Carolina (hereinafter “County” ).
As a willing Host during Uproar Festival of Public Art (“Uproar”) taking place in Orange County, North Carolina, August 1 - August
23, 2025, the Host agrees to the following terms:
1. The Host will not disclose the artwork being placed at the site until the festival has begun. All Uproar works need to remain a
surprise in order for the public to visit the festival. The Host recognizes that the details regarding specific artists and artwork
outlined below are subject to change pending Uproar’s receipt of artist agreements and artwork.
2. Provide a safe environment for the art assigned to the site, ensuring it remains visible and unobstructed during the festival,
and discouraging any tampering by the public. Host will allow for the installation of the art which may include anchoring
work to concrete, or hanging work from an outside wall of a structure.
3. If the artwork needs attention, the Host will contact the OCAC office as soon as possible at 919-245-2335.
4. The Host will make sure Uproar voting and audio description signage stays on site with the art during the entire festival.
5. The Host acknowledges that there are inherent health and safety risks related to visiting any spaces where other people are
present. The Host confirms management of the site and are therefore responsible for mitigating any potential risks to the
extent such risks can be managed.
6. Accessibility is a priority of Uproar and all art will be displayed in fully accessible, outdoor locations. The area of the site
displaying artwork must be unobstructed for those in wheelchairs or with mobility or vision challenges.
7. The area of the site displaying artwork must be accessible and visible to the public for voting during daylight hours during
the festival dates of Friday, August 1 through Saturday, August 23.
8. Host may not charge an admission fee to the public to view the entries during the festival.
9. To the extent allowed by law, both parties agree to indemnify and hold harmless the other party and its officers, agents and
employees from and against any and all loss, liability, claims or expense (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from
or relating to the 2025 Uproar Festival of Public Art to the extent such losses are caused by the indemnifying party's
negligence or willful misconduct. This indemnification does not apply to the extent that such losses are caused by the
negligence or misconduct of the party seeking indemnification.
10. The site verifies insurance coverage through a current and active General Liability insurance policy.
11. County reserves the right to use imagery and documentation of the site, the art, and the process of installing the art. Uses
may include, but are not limited to, the official Uproar website, press releases, promotional materials prepared by County or
County affiliates and partners including display and exhibition materials, maps, guides, installations, and social media.
12. As an Uproar Host Site, I agree to the terms of this agreement. I understand County may prohibit a site from participating at
its sole discretion. I verify that I have the authority, rights, and permission to enter into this agreement on behalf of the site
and/or property owner listed below.
