Public Participation Guidelines: Limit of three minutes at today's meeting. Can submit more
information by email for inclusion as an agenda item for discussion at a future meeting

New Business:
1. Ideas for 2025 Initiatives and Goals for ASAB, will be discussed at next meeting.
2. ASAB Orientation for new members- There is a recorded video for each member to review
and a session will be scheduled soon for Annie Goldberg, Michael Dempsey and Roni Peterson.
The updated link will be sent via email to all members.
Animal Services Advisory Board:
Currently have one vacancy on ASAB—Town of Hillsborough position. There are two current
applicants, but neither reside in the town of Hillsborough. Both applicants introduced themselves
to the board and expressed a desire to be nominated to the board when an eligible vacancy
occurs. Rhonda Patterson is a volunteer with Eyes Ears Nose & Paws and resides in Chapel Hill.

Dr. Timothy Ives is a faculty member at the UNC School of Pharmacy and resides in Orange
County.

Old Business: Facility tour for ASAB members after tonight's meeting
Information Items: Presented by Tiani Stamey, Assistant Director of OCAS
1. Elizabeth Overcash started two weeks ago in her position as Director of OCAS. Her
previous position was Assistant Director of Burlington Animal Services.
2. There are currently 61 dogs and 61 cats, one rabbit and a pair of parakeets either at the
shelter or in foster homes through OCAS. The live release rate in January 2025 was
94.9%
3. There was excellent public response for the snow days in February—almost all eligible
dogs were taken into temporary foster homes for those days
4. Program Coordinator, Melissa Ramirez-Grimaldi, has been accepted to veterinary school,
so her position will be opening up
Informal Discussion: Dr. Pickett brought awareness to ASAB that the rabies prevalence in
Orange County has been increasing over the past three years—this is primarily in wildlife, but
domestic animals have been exposed as well.
Adjournment: Meeting adjourned at 7:20pm.
