Welcome 2. Introductions and Announcements 3.Presentation by the Orange County Tax Administrator – County Property Tax Reevaluation •Janice shared the County Manager budget will be presented on May 6. The tax rate will be set for Orange County on June 17. 4.Approval of Minutes – March 11, 2025. Minutes were approved. Director’s Report 5.Aging Well Together Radio show wins Southern Gerontology Society’s Media Award •The award pool consists of 14 states. 6.Fit Lot Construction has begun •$20,000 of equipment has been stolen- Canopy, fasteners, screws, etc., construction has been paused. An insurance claim is being made. 7.Serving our unsheltered community at the Seymour Center •SORAD support has improved the situation at Seymour. 8.Dismantling of the Administration for Community Living •There are currently unknowns regarding federal funding- about 42% of our budget. 9.Kick-off of the All Ages All Stages Multi-Sector Aging Plan Implementation 10.Staff Updates – Seymour Center Evening Part-time Facility Assistant Vacant- DME Program Assistant New Communications Intern – Parker Perry, UNC student Vacant- Aging Transitions/Volunteer Connect 55+ Specialist. Will determine rehiring timeline when the budget is known. 11. Upcoming Events – Read Endless Possibilities for a full listing of programs. Below are some highlights: a. Shred and Meds Disposal – Monday, April 7 from 9 – noon at Seymour Center and Tuesday, April 8, 9-noon at Passmore Center. Great turnout even with rain! b. Med Assist Event with Alliance Health, April 11 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Seymour Center c. Orange County Senior Games Celebration Dinner – April 16 4:40 p.m. Seymour Center d. Health and Wellness Fair – May 1 from 9:30 -12:30 p.m. Seymour Center Will hopefully also include the Ribbon Cutting of the Fit Lot e. ENCORE Sentimental Journey Singers pilot project kickoff– April 23 1-2:30 p.m. Seymour Center New Business 12. FY 25-26 Budget • Janice shared Aging’s budget requests- Language access support (especially ASL), AT training, CBS training, and take-away meal program. Aging will connect with OCNCMOW to serve meals if take away meal funding changes. a. Update MAP Fund Balance • Ann Bradford, Ryan Lavalley, and Janice presented at the BOCC meeting • Home repairs were a major topic b. Received additional funding from the CPAAA for the Fit Lot • $62,000 of MAP money to fund Fit Lot 13. May is Older Americans Month – Theme this year is “Flip the Script on Aging” a. BOCC Proclamation – May 6 14. Board appointments • Seeking 1 yr extension for Vibeke’s term o The Board motioned and approved. • Jon would like to stay on the board • GiGi has transportation barriers with attendance, Janice will talk to her. 2022-27 Master Aging Plan 15. MAP Steering Committee Meeting – May 16 16. Third quarter workgroup meetings are happening Committee Progress Reports if needed: 17. Senior Tar Heel Legislature – Vibeke Talley, STHL Delegate and Rafael Velez, STHL alternate delegate. • Tabling continues to be successful at Seymour and Passmore! 13 people stopped by last week’s tabling at Passmore. 18. Nursing Home and Adult Care Home Joint Community Advisory Committee – Jackie Podger: meeting this afternoon; all evaluations are currently complete. • Improvements have been made in some facilities, with lifts, for example • Autumn Cox’s position with Central Pines Regional Council is likely to be filled soon Adjournment Next meeting: May 13 from 1:00 – 3 p.m. – Passmore Center
