I. Call to order— Lynn McGee, Chair (6:00pm)
II. Meeting Minutes Approval: May 28, 2024, Meeting Minutes Approved pending correction to
remove Josh as Chair in the attendance portion of the minutes.

III. County Updates (6:04-6:15) - Courtney McLaughlin, Interim Director
A. County Manager Status: Travis Myron is on board as the Orange County Manager, and
Bonnie Hammersley is retiring from that role in mid-July. More updates in August when
new Director of the Office of Equity and Inclusion comes on board.
B. Share Point Site Update: In progress but delayed. Projected completion date is the end
of the summer, 2024. It is possible they will migrate to the MS One Drive.
C. Juneteenth Event Overview: Overview by Courtney McLaughlin stating the events were
successful with 37 attendees in the morning session, the Afternoon session had a
agrarian focus and the evening celebration was well attended with games, music and
food trucks.
D. BOCC Schedule for Filling Vacancies: Will get updates during Aug, 2024 Meeting.
E. Budget Details: New budget will be available in August, 2024.
IV.Executive Committee Report- Lynn McGee (6:15-6:25)
A. OC Community Remembrance Committee: Upcoming July 2 Symposium on the 60'
Anniversary of the signing of the Civil Right Act (Flyer will be posted on social media sites)
B. Vacancies - 1 vacancy and 8 applicants. Four applicants responded to our invitation to join
us to night for a "Meet and Greet", and three showed up, namely Shane Lukas, Cory Hogans,
Alex Fowler). Scoring rubric will be used to establish recommendations for placement on the
HRC. CM will inform the advisory board of the definite date for nomination to the BOCC
during the Aig, 2024 Meeting. Commissioners are asked to complete their scoring rubrics,
and be prepared to submit scores as directed in the Aug, 2024 meeting.
C. Communications (Nathalie & Jemm)— Goals are to post more frequently and consistently.
There is a brand new Instagram Page. Jemm will be appointed as the admin on the
Instagram and Facebook page when Courtney can get the assistance and attention of the IT
department.
D. Retreat Date & Content: Proposed time is in September and can be combined with the
Sep HRC Meeting.
V. Subcommittee Reports: (6:25-6:45)
A. Policies and Procedures: Co-Chairs: Josh &Anjail: Revising By-Laws (Policies and
Procedures document) that will be reviewed during the Retreat.
B. Outreach & Engagement: Co-Chairs: Brooke & Rhian: Goal for Retreat: Plan for
engagement & Survey for community needs.
C. Community Events: Co-Chairs: Michael &Tonya:
a. Book Read: Move this event to September. Proposed Book is "The Intersectional
Environmentalist". Partner with the Sustainability Committee and the county library
community engagement coordinator.
b. Middle East Unrest Community Conversation: CM will reach out to Gene Troy to as
for trends across NC. BCY talked to Essential Partners regarding a community
conversations series, but this may be better suited for FY2025.
VI. Other Business: (7:05-7:15)
A. Essential Partners has one more seat in their Fellowship: Any interest
B. Blackwood Farm Park Slave Cemetery: Historic marker sponsorship-CM to line up a meeting with
the Parks and Rec Dept to discuss since the Blackwood Farm is under their leadership.
