SUBJECT: Acceptance of Art Hanging System Donation

PURPOSE: To accept the donation of an art hanging system from the Friends of the Southern
Branch Library.
BACKGROUND: Through various grants over the years from the Orange County Arts
Commission, the Friends of the Southern Branch Library (formerly the Friends of the Carrboro
Branch Library) has acquired an art hanging system valued at approximately $3,500. With the
opening of the Drakeford Library Complex, the Friends of the Southern Branch Library would like
to donate the system to the County to display art in the facility.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Accepting the art hanging system will reduce the money the County will
need to spend to display art in the Drakeford Library Complex.
ALIGNMENT WITH STRATEGIC PLAN: This item supports:
• GOAL 2: HEALTHY COMMUNITY
OBJECTIVE 7. Invest in services and programs that improve the health and
quality of life of the community (e.g., recreation and public open spaces, arts,
etc.)
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board accept the art hanging
system donation from the Friends of the Southern Branch Library.
