Map INFORMATION CONTACT: Karen Lincoln, ext. 2594 TELEPHONE NUMBERS: Hillsborough 732-8181 Chapel Hill 968-4501 Durham 688-7331 Mebane (336)227-2031 PURPOSE: To discuss and receive comment on North Carolina Department of Transportation's Proposed 2004/2005 Secondary Roads Construction Program for Orange County, BACKGROUND: Chapter 136-44.8 of the General Statutes of North Carolina (NCGS) requires that North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) meet with the Board of County Commissioners at a public meeting to present to and discuss with the board and other citizens proposed secondary road paving projects (Secondary Roads Construction Program). NCDOT, in compliance with NCGS 136-44,8, has posted in the county courthouse a county map showing tentative secondary road paving projects, and has published notice of the public hearing in county newspapers (the Mebane Enterprise, The News of Orange and The Chapel Hill News), The anticipated 2004/2005 allocation for Orange County secondary roads totals $ 1,417,700, The allocation includes: Paving Rural Unpaved Roads (11 road segments - 7,20 miles) $1,392,000 Contingency 25,700 Total $1,417,700 The anticipated allocation for FY 2004/2005 represents a 1 % decrease in funding from the anticipated allocation for the 2003/2004 Orange County Secondary Roads Construction Program.. FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no direct financial impact associated with this decision item.
