Call to Order: by Jackie Podger & Shade Little, Co-Chairs
Members Present: Carol Kelly, Jackie Podger, Shade Little, Kelly Kester, MaryLou Gelblum,
Karen McElveen-Green, Robert Ashburn, Prakash Sista
Members Absent: Stephanie Boswell, Alicia Reed
Staff Present:Autumn Cox, Lydia Arnold
Introductions: Kristin Prelipp, Community Engagement and Public Information Officer,
Orange County Community Relations Dept.
Approval of Minutes from Feb 6, 2024: Motion made to accept minutes passed. There
were no declensions.
Ombudsman Report by Autumn Cox:
- May 21 — NC Partnership to Address Elder Abuse annual conference
- June 13 - World elder abuse free event
- Monitoring visit from the State Ombudsman completed (conducted every 5 years)
- Peak has had multiple discharges lately for non-payment
- Recent Parkview discharge was overturned with ombudsman advocacy
Dept on Aging Report from Lydia Arnold for Kim Lamon-Loperfido:
- Dept of Aging program updates were given.
- 5/8 - Cedar Grove Law program — attorney to speak about advanced directives
- 5/15 - Health and Wellness Fair
- 5/18 - End of Life Expo with speaker and vendors
- 5/30 — Breaking the Silence dinner event and documentary viewing
- 6/4 — De-prescribing program focused on polypharmacy

Reminders:
Quarterly Site Visit Reports due when visit is completed. Copy of report should
be sent to Ombudsman and Committee Co-Chairs
